Cuando recibió un telegrama del Papa Negro pidiéndole dos mil duros por la actuación como becerristas de sus hijos, no tardó mucho en responderle por la misma vía telegráfica:
“No le pido niños para quedarme con ellos. Stop. Solamente para que toreen durante hora y media. Stop”.
